Why Mark would be an excellent tenant:

Mark is a very studious and quiet type of person.  He has not owned a TV in 30 years.  He devotes himself to intense work during the workweek (often working 10 hour days).  Mark does not smoke or drink.  Mark does not throw wild parties.  Like most accomplished people, Mark has goals and ambitions and is working diligently towards making those happen.  He is kind, gracious, compassionate, cooperative and helpful to have around.  But, he will remain mostly focused on his busy professional and personal life.

Mark will maintain conventional working hours (tries to be asleep by 10pm, and tries to be out the door by 7am).   He is neat and orderly, and will always clean up after himself in common resource areas.  Mark owns 3 rental properties (2 in CA and 1 in WA).  He has 8 tenants himself, and understands landlord/tenant relations.  He has  rented the apartment he lived in in Sacramento for 8 years and has paid his rent 10 days early every month for 8 years.   Being a landlord that pays utility bills (for 4 properties) he is very conserving of his energy use (lights, heat, etc.).

Because Mark has been a property manager for over 25 years, he has a good eye for trouble in the making.  Expensive problems can result from leaks, poor construction, fatigue, etc.  Where most tenants simply ignore such things or are completely oblivious, costing their landlords a ton, Mark is the kind of tenant who would bring any potential problems to your immediate attention, if not repair them on the spot.  If you leave town, he would bring in the paper & mail, run the sprinklers, etc. and keep things running fine, so you would not stay awake at night worrying. 

Mark places a very high value on having a peaceful, cordial, quiet and pleasant home environment.  His home is his sanctuary.  He would seldom if ever have friends visit him at home.  Mark generally hires a housekeeper to keep his home spotless.

Mark is moving to Honolulu on Oct 15.  He has not lived in Hawaii for many years.  He will begin working for Kamehameha Schools / Bishop Estate in October 2009.  He would like a modest quiet place to get up & going on Oahu.

Life Summary:   

Mark grew up in Newport Beach, CA sailing and surfing in the 60s.  He graduated from High School at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy, attended UC Irvine, served 4 years on active duty in Florida, Panama, and Texas.  He is fluent in Spanish.  Mark has worked or consulted at world-class organizations including Hewlett-Packard, Boeing Aerospace, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Sunkist Cooperative, and the State of California.  Mark has two grown children and 3 grandchildren.  Mark has competed in a variety of individual sports including track, triathlons, swimming, and sailing.  He takes his personal health very seriously, having been a raw vegan for more than a decade.  This figures into his not drinking or smoking, or living a politician's lifestyle.  A list of some of Mark's accomplishments is here.
